Tony Horton, Beachbody and P90X are coming to Dallas!

Ok so obviously it has been all summer since I last posted here. My kids went back to school this week and it seems I will have a breather from a crazy summer of work. I have maintained really well during the summer and even lost a couple more pounds. I did not get a full round II of P90X but did work out 3-4 days a weeks mixing the cardio days and exercise days. I am getting geared up for a full round this next week. I was going to get a 90 day contest started this summer and it just did not come together. I am getting that in gear to announce and get started. So for those who would like to get on the list watch out for the announcement and rules.

On a great note though, I am excited to announce that Tony Horton and Team Beachbody are coming to Dallas. Right here in my backyard! This is a great opportunity to learn about Team Beachbody and what they offer and get involved. Of course it would not be a real event unless Tony came along and we got a chance to workout with the man himself. So if you are in the area you need to sign up with me your Independent Team Beachbody Coach to come along. I can give you details and information to join the team. Just email me and lets get started. This is it Decide. Commit. Succeed.!

Stay posted for more information and sign up now for ClanP90X Fitness Newsletter that is coming soon!

P90X contest placement

When I started P90X I was talking with my  Team Beachbody coach and he was setting up a contest for P90X.  He started a message board Team Performance where he had anyone that wanted to join the contest to post our day one photos and we had to post day 90 photos before June 9th.  Originally there were over 20 people that jumped on and posted day one photos.  When it was over only 11 people remained for one reason or another.  I noticed though that those that stayed active with the message boards and had an accountability to themselves and a peer group were the most successful in the contest.  You can click on Team Performance message board and watch the progress of the contestants as well as read recipe information and tips for getting the most out of P90X and beyond.  There are other boards to get involved with there and I have posted and discussed topics with many different people there.  I would encourage anyone that is thinking of doing P90X to check out the support system by joining Team Beachbody with me.

Ok for those dying to know how I faired in the competition; I came in 4th place!  The prizes were for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place, so I did not win anything but I did come out of this with a great sense of accomplishment.  the contest was a great way to keep up on things and keep myself motivated.  I also look at this as a lifestyle change and am enjoying the increase in most aspects of my life.

There is of course another contest that you can enter each and everyday when you workout and that is the Million Dollar Body Contest.  As you become a member of Team BeachBody you log in to WOWY (Work Out With You) you are automatically entered in the daily contest that can give prizes up to $1000 in cash a day.  You do not have to be doing a P90X workout either to count as your exercise for the day.  You could be walking your dog or doing a spin class or any other form of exercise that you are involved in.  Then every month they award up to $10,000 for individuals transformation stories and yearly award two people $250,000 for their transformations.  It is a great way to get involved and keep motivated.

We are also going to be starting another 90 day transformation contest in August or a little earlier.  Drop me an email with your questions.

90 Day P90X Photos

As I am a little short on time I will just post some pictures for now and write more later, since of course pictures tell the real story.

I still have some improvements and that is ok with me as this is a life style change and I am so pleased with my progress and results so far.

Cheers!

P90X Day 90 Coming up quickly!

I have only 3 more days of the Phase III recovery week left!  Day 90 for my first round of P90X is up on Monday the 9th!  Then I am going to take a week off to get some more on the recovery before starting over again.  I will go back to the Phase I diet guide as I still have some bodyfat to lose before I feel that I have reached my goals.

Strange though, I have actually surpassed my weight goals, which feels fantastic!  I am definitely understanding my body more and how it does with food intake and what kind of body I have etc…

Just wanted to point out that there have been lots of people joining with me and I look forward to hearing from each of them as they get going.  Look for my posts early next week with my results thus far.

Cheers!

P90X 60 Day Photos are here!

Alright so I said I would get this done a bit ago. And yes it has been almost 2 weeks since I said that. And yes it is officially past my 60 days but the photos were taken on the 60 days of my first round of P90X. I had to move last week and had to miss 5 out of 7 days but certainly did not miss working myself and burning calories. So I started Phase III of P90X this past Monday to get back on schedule. Here are my photos from 60 days and my stats thus far.

The first shot is day 1 to day 60 and the others are day 12 to day 60 comparisons.

day1-60front

day1-60arms

day1-60back

day1-60side

Ok, so there they are. I have dropped down to 166 lbs and 14.5% body fat! I feel fantastic. I know I may not get the total body fat down to 85 or so but this is a life style change for me as well and I have seen such great results that I will continue on.

More to come this week as I am working on a post to answer questions that have come my way. Thanks to everyone that is responding and sending questions. If you have any please send them on ClanP90X.

60 Day P90X update coming

Today is day 60 for me.  I will be taking photos and working on a slide show for youtube and pictures to post.  My wife and kids found me some good photos of this last year and wow what a change.  They keep just telling me how different I look and pointing out that I look better.  Although having a 3 year old boy around the house that is very quick at picking up what everyone is talking about and coming in and checking on me while I do my workouts is fun.  He counts my pull ups and makes sure my legs are positioned correct and the I do everything Tony Horton tells me.

I have also gotten quite a few questions lately and will work on posting them here along with the answers so that everyone can get them answered.  If you have any questions that you would to be addressed just use this email: clanP90x@mac.com and I will get them answered and posted here too

P90X day 45 update

Ok so we all have goals in mind when we start a workout program and this time around for me it was no different. I had a pair of jeans that I had worn on a vacation to Ireland in 2002 just after finishing a round of working all over the country and eating all but nothing for 4 months. They were 33’s and I only wore them a couple of times before they got too small and I had to move back into my 35-36’s. I kept them in a corner of the closet just as a reminder that someday I wanted to wear them again. Well I thought last week that I should at least try them on to see how I was doing and wow! They not only fit but they were loose everywhere! I never measured my legs when I started P90X but I did try on those jeans a few months ago and my thighs were no where close to wearing a pair of jeans this size. Now they are really loose on the thighs and that feels great. So not only do I have an old pair of jeans that I can wear but it looks like I am going to have to go even smaller with the next pair that I get. What size will I end up then?

One other goal I have had for several years is to somehow get below 170lbs. Well yesterday was day 45 and I did it! 169.0 lbs was the official weight of the day! I was so excited! I am not a big or small guy but definitely in the medium size range at 5′10″. So I did the other measurements to see where I was and I had gone down another inch on my waist measurement and according to the Navy body fat calculation I am down to 16.7% body fat! That is 10% of body fat loss in 45 days! To me that is incredible! I am feeling stronger and healthier everyday and very pleased with my results.

The first 30 days you do see changes and feel changes, but it can get a bit frustrating as you always expect things to go so rapidly because you making such drastic changes to everything. If you are feeling that way just remember that where you are today did not take 30, 60 or even 120 days to accomplish it probably took several years to put on those extra pounds. This is a process to get the changes you desire but they will come you just need to stay focused and have a great support system around you. Come check out the message boards at Beachbody and visit any of the topics that interest you. I am on a Team Performance regularly and my own board ClanP90X come visit and see what others are experiencing. You can join for free just click here and build a profile for yourself even if you are not doing P90X and get involved. You can also win prizes for doing any kind of workout you are doing today; walking, running, treadmill, working out at the gym, yoga, whatever it is you might as well join the club and get rewarded for at least doing what you are doing today.

I am so looking forward to day 60!

P90X Review of Workout and Recovery Drink so far

So we are in the second phase for the nutrition plan and in the second month of workouts. When we started on day one I wanted to be fully prepared for the soreness and nutrition so I ordered the vitamins, protein bars and recovery drink from Beachbody. I have to say that first off I was fully ready for being terribly sore just like I have been in the past when I start a new workout program. Usually for me the first time I do a legs workout I have a hard time walking for at least 4-5 days, you know the kind, when you sit in your chair and stay for more then 30 minutes and then try to get up and everything is seizing. I was ready for that after the first Plyometrics workout on day two, as that workout is tough. I did what others had suggested and what Tony Horton says you should do with P90X and drink the recovery drink. So the first two days I did just that, I got done working out and got a mixing bottle and added 16oz of cold water with some crushed ice and added the two scoops of recovery drink. Wow, I was surprised it was like drinking a creamsicle, you know the ones you enjoyed as a kid but pass by in the freezer section but always want to eat one just to remember what it tastes like. No more do you need to dream just have some recovery drink!

So the taste test was a success for myself, now it was time to try out on the Mrs. She had a “bad experience” while pregnant with that orange flavor drink they use to test for diabetes and hates anything with flavored orange. I won’t keep you in suspense, she liked it and has not done a workout without drinking it afterward.

The recovery drink is not just a tasty treat after a hard workout it is loaded with nutrients that the body needs to use in order to grow and develop that much desired lean muscle mass. Now I could get technical and go into the hype of why the body needs all those nutrients but I won’t, I will leave that to the scientists. So for us normal people, the fact is, in my opinion, I have not been anywhere near as sore and I have had great success in developing muscle so far due to using the recovery drink. I really do believe that because I take the time to mix up that simple drink after my workout that it is doing what it was intended for.

In my experience thus far the nutrition has played a major role in how I feel and within only a few weeks my body has taught my brain when and what nutrients it needs. I find myself feeling better after making a smoothie shake with protein, fat-free milk, fruit, flaxseed and ice. Instead of loading up with a snack out of the vending machine. Nutrition is the key to success with P90X and the vitamins play a vital role along with the recovery drink and other supplements like fish oil and flaxseed.

Check out the links to the Team Beachbody products on the right of the page to read the promotional information and understand the mechanics behind it. In my opinion it works and tastes great, just like the tiger says!

P90X Update

As a family everyone knows you have those days or weeks that just seem crazy. Well of course that was my last week. I did manage to get all of my workouts in and did my rest day Sunday. It will take few days to catch back up on other items though so I will be working on the things I intended for the blog here. I have a few recipes I am putting together and some reviews of the workouts as well. Stay tuned.

Cheers!
